Hey everybody, yesterday I bought a new 2005 Denali with all the goodies and am starting to think its one of the best decisions i've made. I do however have a few questions, I obviously got a leather model and have never had leather in a car yet, how do I take good care of it so it will stay nice for a long time? I already made all the windows 20% tint to keep sun off the leather (and me). The Denali came a navigation unit (I love that) and DVD player (the kids love that) is there a way that when I have adults riding the rear they can track our progress through the rear seat DVD player? Any other technical tips that you have found preserve the rig would be great too.

Lexol leather conditioner should fill your leather upkeep needs; dunno what you mean whey you ask if the rear passengers can track your progress--are you asking if the nav screen can be visible/viewable through the rear DVD player screen? If so, then no it is not possible...
In any case, congrats on your '05--I've read that GM made some minor improvements on the '05 Denali over the '04; is the nav on yours touch screen and/or have voice assist? Also, I believe the tire pressure monitor on the '05 model will now indicate exactly which tire is low on pressure; the one on the '04 only alerts you to a low-pressure condition, but doesn't tell you which tire(s) are affected. |

Re: A new denali owner.
I highly recommend Zaino products for your leather needs. Both my vehicles have leather and that product cleans and keeps it smelling like new.

Re: A new denali owner.
Congrats on your Denali! I like Lexol products, but the scent leaves a lot to be desired. I found some Zymol cleaner & conditioner on sale, and have been VERY impressed. Zaino - hard to do better than that. Top of the line stuff. There are really a lot of fine products out there. Leather products from Meguiar's or Mothers are fine too, and they're inexpensive and easy to find.
The nav and entertainment screens are mutually exclusive, I'm afraid, although that would be really sweet. ![]() Take care, Jerry

My nav is a touch screen/voice command. It is probably the best nav unit I have seen in an SUV, I tried out the Acuras and came back screaming to my GM products. The tire guages actually give the tire pressure which kinda caught me off guard I didnt expect it but definitley like it. One more question I have is a friend of mine has an '03 denali, when he hits the unlock button on his keyfob it adjusts his seat to his setting/presets his radio favorites etc, and like wise when his wife opens it the car resets itself accordingly. My new denali doesn't do any of that, I took the truck into the tech department today and they came back reporting that they took that feature out of the 2005's. Anyone know anything about this?

Re: A new denali owner.
No kidding? I'm surprised they took out the driver profile settings. That's a drag. I had no idea. Can you program settings into the DIC via the steering wheel controls? I'm anxious to see the new nav system. They made some improvements to the deck from '03 to '04, but the new one for '05 just sounds awesome.
Take care, Jerry

05Denali--if you've ever played with the previous-gen GM nav unit, I'd betcha you'd praise the Honda/Acura nav unit to no end...
And actually, IIRC the current-gen Honda/Acura nav unit is also voice-assist and touch-screen (previous-gen Acura nav is also touch-screen and also integrates touch-screen climate control, which I believe the current -gen GM nav in the Denali doesn't...but I could be wrong here).Interesting if indeed true that the '05 doesn't have remote Driver 1/2 settings; do the D1/D2 memory position buttons still exist on the driver-side door panel? Also, are each of your two remotes labelled D1 and D2 (not that this would guarantee that they can recall separate settings)? |

Re: A new denali owner.
The new '05 nav unit has voice assist/touch screen however no climate control. Yes they still have the touch 1/2 on the door panel and yes the remotes are also labeled.

The lazy crock of Sh!t theory ran through my mind but the dealer did a search of GM's webpage and came back with nothing about it. After they did their search I scoured the OM and the web page and still nothing came up. I am considering sending an e-mail to GM to put it to rest once and for all.

Advance Service Info - Memory Seat May Not Return to Requested Position (No Fix Availabe at this Time, Fix Under Development) #04-08-50-016 - (Aug 19, 2004) Memory Seat May Not Return to Requested Position (No Fix Available at this time, Fix Under Development) 2003-2004 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT 2003-2004 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe 2003-2004 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali All with Seat FRT, Individual (Non BKT) (RPO AN3) 2003-2004 HUMMER H2 with Seat, Front Bucket Deluxe (RPO AR9) No repair is available at this time for the above condition. Do Not Attempt any corrective action on these vehicles for this condition at this time. Condition Some customers may comment that with repeated cycling of the memory seat between the 'exit' and one of the 'presets', the position of the seat may "creep" forward or rearward out of expected adjustment. Cause There is a coding deficiency in the software for the memory seat module. Correction No repair is available at this time. This is a recognized issue and engineering is working to revise the software to correct this condition. DO NOT replace the memory seat module. Replacing the module will not correct the condition. Dealer Action Record the customer information on a permanent record so you may call the customer when a repair becomes available. Advise the customer that a repair is in test and validation and is due out soon. At the time the bulletin becomes available, it will be the dealers' responsibility to contact the customer. -- Also, if the memroy seat option is enabled, it prevents the driver's outside miror from returning to it's preset position after be re-deployed from the folded in position. I know cause my 04 YXL has these issues. I'm ticked because I paid for options I can't use and it doesn't look like GM is going to fix them either. I found another "feature" too, if your rear climate control system is set to off and you start you vehicle and then turn on the rear climate control, you will not get heat, you have to pull over, shut the vehicle down and wait for 30 or so seconds for the computers to shut down and then restart (make sure the rear climate control is on) then you can heat the back. I paid extra for the trizone climate control also. I'm a bit dissappointed with GM's attiude toward these "feature" issues. Bob |

'05DenalID--assuming that GM hasn't changed the owners manual layout/format for 2005...if the memory feature (still) exists, there should be something written about it in Section 2 (Features and Controls)--see if there is a subsection called "Vehicle Personalization" in Section 2 (or whatever section that the "Features and Controls" section is under). This subsection--if it still exists in your '05 owners manual) describes how to program and recall memory settings for both Driver 1 and Driver 2 (buttons 1 and 2 on the door panel); hopefully, it will mention something about how the two driver settings also correspond to the two remotes--in which case it implies that the memory recall feature on the remote does exist...either that or get the dealer to admit that the owners manual is incorrect and that GMC needs to put out an addendum to add to the owners manual declaring such. It's one thing to say that a feature described in the OM may be optional or perhaps malfunctioning, but another thing to describe such a feature in the OM yet tell someone that it's not offered at all.
