2002 Camaro SS vs. 2003 Mach 1 Mustang

If mach 1's only have 305hp and Camaro SSs have over anywhere from 325-350hp wouldnt the SS win. Who would win?

Re: 2002 Camaro SS vs. 2003 Mach 1 Mustang

you have already asked this. i will actually answer this time in hope that you will stop asking these types of questions. welcome to the forum BTW.

both cars are considered mid to low 13 second cars. this means that in most cases it will be a drivers race between these two cars.

from a stop, the mach will get the jump, but the ss should catch it in the end.

from a roll the mach can forget about it. there you go, bye bye

they are underrated in power. my cobra is regarded as a mid-high 13 second car. the mach 1 has a solid rear axle, weighs less, has a higher compression motor with a longer lift and higher cam profile. hmmm, yeah, thats a high 13 second car.

i have read in magazines that they should be high 13 second cars as well. then again, i have heard/seen slips of them running 13.3s (street tires) or so. unless people are liars now a days. i dunno.

new machs have hit low 13s i'm positive...However between the two from a dead it would all depend on driver as has already been said but froma roll the mustang looses all it's advantage and the top end the LS1 has will lead it to victory.

Re: 2002 Camaro SS vs. 2003 Mach 1 Mustang

I wasn't asking which is faster, all i was saying is my opinion on it, as for smokey818 i wasn't necessarily saying you but i noticed it all over this board, people tend to wine about doing a search instead of just answering. The time it takes to tell someone to do a search you could just answer their question...Be an internet tough guy somewhere else...Maybe he should have done a search but either way it got answered...

Re: 2002 Camaro SS vs. 2003 Mach 1 Mustang

According to CarandDriver's most recent test of a 2003 Mach1, it did a 14.0 second quarter mile. When the tested the SS in 2001, they had it around 13.5 seconds. I say go by those figures. I know it's a driver's race, but if you want a reliable source, I say look at a popular car magazine.

Re: 2002 Camaro SS vs. 2003 Mach 1 Mustang

I've seen mach 1's run high 13's and I have yet to see them run in low 13's, my 01 mustang gt will only run a 14.02 1/4 and this is because I have bassani x-pipe, flowmaster exhaust, and 3.73 gear's.

Magazine racing is far to overdone...NEVER depend on the numbers a magazine puts out. I dont rely on them anyway. As for the GT running 14.0 and that's with mods...Its a 2v motor not the 4v. I have seen them run mid - high 13s and that track isnt anywhere near ideal...There is a test in muscle mustangs and fast fords which has a competition between a 99 cobra, bullitt and a mach 1. Mach 1 wins 1/4 mile test with a low 13s if i remember correctly.

Re: 2002 Camaro SS vs. 2003 Mach 1 Mustang

I've seen shoot outs with stock mustang's and they ran as quick as 13.8's but these guy's are pro's I am not a pro, but when I first got my GT i was running a 14.71 and I knno I can get in the 13's but I care about my car so I don't push as hard as i could because it is my everyday car!

Re: 2002 Camaro SS vs. 2003 Mach 1 Mustang

With my camaro i drove it as hard as i wanted and it was a daily driver, it never broke because of it either....maybe that's because it was a chevy

JK

i'm sure stock mustangs have hit 13.8's, what is the density altitude where you are at? I have seen mach 1's hit 13s and they're not "pro's"
