Need Help! Transmission Price

i dont know a whole lot about cars but when i took my 93 lumina to a transmission shop the guy told me that for a new transmission it will cost 825 dollars for a new 1...does that sound about right..or is this guy trying to get over on me because im a novice??

Sounds about right around here, however you could check around for rebuilt or used.

Is that ur price for a new (rebuilt) tranny installed?? If so, jump on it. Thats super cjeap.
If it doesnt include installation, look forward to 1300-1500.

I bought a used tranny for my 3.1L. the tranny was a turbo 440 I don't know if thats what you need or not but I only paid 530$ for it after a huge headache tracking it down

If that's the whole job, and includes labor and a decent warrantee, I say do it. That's not bad.

I think we sank $1200 into the Cutlass each time it needed a transmission..that includes labor and "fluid charge". You've found quite a deal.

I should probably tell ya all I did the labor myself, but that price is what I paid for the tranny, fluids, and warranty. And that tranny was pulled from a doner car but taken apart and rebuilt before I bought it
