Finished: Civic SiR II (VTi) EK4 HB

With the 180SX finished I moved on with a Honda Civic SiR II in Europe known as Civic VTEC VTi. It's a kit from Fujimi and will be build out of the box. The car will be painted metallic black (I couldn't get pearl black) and will be (almost) exact copy of which I own - becouse I'm a beginner at modeling I'll leave out the eye brows and Mugen front grill. Maybe I'll add this two things on later

Body is already sanded and washed with soapy water. It's waiting to get it's coat of plastic primer.

I have messed the interior when airbrushing. Or the distance was too big, wrong pressure or the paint was thinned too much. The seats give rough, flocked like pattern. Interior will be re-sprayed

I just love the steering wheel. It's so smooth. Later I'll add semi-gloss black to imitate leather. The pic's quality isn't good

I had accented springs with silver although the real ones are black (semi-gloss )

I'll update as soon as I get camera again.

Right now I don't have the camera, so I'll just write up what happened. I did practicly perfect paint job. But all metallic paint must be clearcoated. First layer was a mist coat. Second one was a wet one. But when laying down the wet one, the spray can started to spray milky white color and not clear . ALthough after 10 minutes it was visible as clear, but the finish was rough. And again I did very wet coat from close distance. And the result was ... over painted door handles, molded names, turn signals, bumper rubbers, ... . Also some really minor cracks appeared.

Murphy ... Anyway I guess now is the time, to completly strip the paint off. I'm thinking of brake fluid/oil. Should I wait the paint to be dry or can I just give my Civic a bath?

P.S.: And don't you think this project is on hold! No way brothers.

The paint was (succesfuly) striped off. Today I've painted the body again. For now it looks good. After 3 days I will clear coat the black.

All the other stuff is already painted for a week now and awaits to be glued together

It's painted! It's 99% done - just the rear spoiler needs fiting.
The major problem is that I can't get (again ) a digital camera to shoot some pics.
I promise I'll do an update!

I had one of those (kinda - mine was an Si coupe, but with the same motor as yours). Looks great so far.

Is your real car's interior all black, too?
