I bought spark plugs for my car about 7 months ago and havent put them in yet because i hear it a mission! Anyways my question is how hard is it to change them, i hear u have to tilt the motor! Also where do u think is the best place to jack up the car to do this ( on the car i mean)!

Re: Changing the spark plugs in 90 lumina
Well, you really don't need to jack up the car if it's the 2.8 or 3.1. First, take off the intake tubing, put it in neutral, chock the rear wheels, unbolt the two forward motor mounts, get a ratchet strap, and pull it forward. Makes it so much easier to get the back three. I got mine done in one hour, but your time may vary depending on several things. Just double check the gap and put some antiseize on the threads.

I know on my 1990 Lumina 2.5l 4 cylinder the spark plugs were right on top of the engine. I put anti-seize on the threads and had to put some silcone gel on the parts that connect to the wires.

Re: Changing the spark plugs in 90 lumina
If you have a strong emergency brake, you can use it to tip the motor forward. Take the roll restrictors(dog bones) at the top off, rock the car back and forth in park. The motor will roll back and forth as you do. At the point that it rocks forward the most, crank the e-brake, and it will "freeze" it in that position. Block a wheel so it doesn't try to creep. Don't forget to put the dog bones back on before you try to drive it (yes-seen it done!!) or the motor will go through your radiator. I like to start the plugs using a 6-inch piece of vacuum hose on the plug, that way you can twist 'em into a hole you can't see without cross-threading.
