cold air intake in SNOW
can anyone tell me... im interested in buyin a injen or aem cold air intake system for my 06' ion 3... which is still on the way... but i was curious to know, how good is the by-pass valve when it comes down to driving it in wet weathers... ex. rain and snow.... cause i wanna know if im better off gettin an expensive short arm instead of it... or if its easy to remove.. buy both... one for winter and summer... which im wellin to do... NOOBIE BY THE WAY.... havent even seen a aem or injen intake out for the 06' but when it comes... need the info to know... curiousities killin me. THANK U

I don't drive an ion (got a 97 SL2) nor do i know how the piping is set up (if AEM has made one for your car at all), but most likely the same thing still applies. the cold air intake will not suck up water unless the filter is COMPLETELY submerged in water. Otherwise, you shouldn't have to worry about it. If you live in a hurricane place or you like driving in deep puddles, get the AEM bypass valve. snow won't do anything. another thing about the bypass valve, you will lose about 4-6 horsepower (i think it's their numbers) when it is installed. don't buy both either. you can take off the second pipe that goes towards the bumper and put the filter on the short ram pipe. AEM actually suggests doing this if you don't want or can't get the valve too. Personally, if injen makes one for your car i would get that one cuz they tend to have a little more horses gained than AEM. as to your future plans, make the car breathe better and it will be awesome; the s-series doesn't respond well to bolt-ons but i'm sure the ion will even a little bit. You will find more resources at www.saturnfans.com too. Good luck!!!!!!!!!
