Red face Panda loses to a Honda

A Honda CBR1000RR.

Coming home from hanging with a friend, he was following me home in his S10. I, of course, am in my Z.

We come to a light on a long straight 3 lane road. I'm in the left, my buddy in the S10 in the middle. And this guy rolls up on a Bike in the right lane.

I can't see what kind of bike it was due to the fact that the S10 blocked it, but I could see the rider. I figured I'd have a little fun, I knew I was probably going to get spanked by whatever was hiding on the other side of the S10.

Light goes green, I'm set at 15psi, I take off kinda quick. I look over and the Bike takes off, shoots over to the middle lane and we proceed to start bookin it down the street.

As we started off through the intersection... a car turned right, and into the far right lane. The guy on the bike, let off momentarily cause the car barely came into the middle lane while turning. Also Maybe thinking I wasn't foolish enough to mess with a bike.

He was wrong, I was reeling him in like a hooked Fish. Although we'd only just started we were already moving a fast pace. As I'm winding out 2nd gear, I see him give a look in his left mirror. And then I see him do what I could swear was a 'double take' at the fact that I was still right behind him. He hunkered back down and got back on the gas again. I slam up into 3rd gear...

He was only 3-4 bike lenghts ahead of me as I shifted into 4th gear, or around 100mph. At this point, I had my fun... plus 100mph on city streets is plenty fast for me. Plus he wasn't rocketing away from me at this point, he was pretty much staying right there... 3-4 bike lengths away. I was happy with my performance.

So I let off and start braking cause the signal way ahead was going yellow. Both the Bike and I were sitting at the Light. He looked over and I gave him a big thumbs up for race, although he won.

I gave me a big nod of his helmet. I think it was more of a "Yeah, thanks... How did an old Z keep up?"

A moment later my friend in the S10 rolls up and He's got this stupid grin on his face.

The light goes green, and the guy on the Bike wasn't taking any chances this time and he just shot off like a cat on flea dip day. I considered launching at the light to hopefully race him again, but no need to risk it. I knew, that he was ready for me this time and I had very little hope.

Later, when we got to my place. My friend said that when me and the Bike took off. We just flew literally out of sight down the street. Fun times.

My friend told me it was a Honda CBR1000RR. Before he told me, the entire trip home (15 minutes), I hadn't a clue what size bike it was. I was like when he told me it was a brand new 1000cc Honda.

Good times are had by all.

Sorry Arcie...

In November, when I come out. You can drive the car ok?

Just stop calling me a Ricer...

And, as far as I'm concerned... only reason why was able to 'keep' up was that split second he got off the throttle. Giving me that small chance. Ah well.. it was fun.

You have large huevos man, picking a race with a liter bike....

Get to the track already! I gotta hear what times you're running. Or better yet, mount a video camera in your car so we all can see how fast your ride is!

I like to think of it as... The performance of a 350z, minus 1100lbs. Well, something like that. hehe.
