Re: really serious question

this is what i did when i bought my Z

1) get the vin # and run a carfax. that should tell you if the car has been flooded or wreck.( only if the owner did a claim)

2) take it for a test drive, turn the music off and listen to any little noise that you don't like.

3) while taking the Z for a ride pull over to your mechanic and have them check the compression on the cylinders/ turbos and everything else on the Z.

4) get the report back from your mechanic cause if there is anything wrong with the Z than you can bargain on the price with the owner.

also dont forget to check the body of the car, paint conditions and interior. go to nada.com and find out how much the car is worth. remenber the car maybe worth alot more to the owner than what the market appraces the car for.

See now? Everyone has to use my word... Zed... Bastard, haha

Anyways, JCCR's information is pretty good. Take his advice, and you should be happy with what you buy. Good luck.

Re: really serious question

Pretty sound advice. The number one thing you can do is drive it...you HAVE to drive it. And don't just take it for a leisurely stroll down the road with the radio on and your mind off a school somewhere or whatever...LISTEN...your ears and ass are your 2 best friends when it comes to finding problems...if you hear something or feel something that seems wrong or off somehow, it's worth getting checked out...

Re: really serious question

don't forget to giver a bit... cause that's the time you'll hear stuff rattling... also... go right up to the taillights, and look down the body from front to back looking for any dings, warps in the body, uneven edges or paint ripples... look around the edges of the windows for paint seams or other stuff that could give away a salvaged car... and uh.. yeah basically what these other guys said... OH... and don't forget to check for condensation in the headlights or taillights... that's a dead giveaway that it was in an accident... happy buying

Well neither of those is going to help cool your engine really. If you want to do that then get an upgraded radiator and fan.
