Quick help please!!
I reside over in the crx forums, but I'm working on my friends '91 accord lx and I need to know if the timing belt tentioner is under the timing belt cover, or if it is that 14mm nut protruding out.
Thanks!! |

Re: Quick help please!!
That nut is the nut that keeps the tensioner tensioned. once the new belt is on and the slack is out of the belt you tighten that nut. So i guess its yes to both questions. The tensioner is behind the cover and yes thats the nut.

Re: Quick help please!!
Right it won't loosen because the tensioner is spring loaded. so once the slack is taken up by the tensioner then the nut is tightened so the belt can't loosen when the engine is turned over.
so by loosening and then tightening you may have actually caused the belt to be just a little bit, not much but a little bit looser and it may jump time.
