Cool '01 Wiper Reservoir

I seem to have sprung a leak in mine. I know at the very least I need to remove the bracket and battery, but does anyone know what else needs to be removed? How difficult is it to pull out?

Any ideas on patching the tank?

Re: '01 Wiper Reservoir

Have you tried some 5-Minute epoxy? I had a leak on my Reservoir on my blazer and I drained it, cleaned it, put a tiny piece of Foam material over the hole just to help resist leakage and then put some epoxy on it and it fixed the hole.
No more leaky !

Hm. I'd considered using epoxy, but the last time I tried to patch a tank, it didn't work. Of course, that was a pesticide pump tank and I doubt the windshield tank requires pressurization.

Is the epoxy actually called '5 Minute' or would any general-purpose epoxy do?

Fortunately if I can't get it fixed, a replacement tank is only $34 from the dealer. I'd rather fix it than spend the money.

Thanks!

I found it?

Well, I came home and ripped into it. Pulled the tank off, filled it up and no leak.

I put what I guess is a pump (at the bottom of the tank, has a hose leading out) back, hooked the hose back up and noticed a drip. Not quite the spray I saw yesterday when I noticed a large blue puddle under the front left tire.

Either way, this pump has cracks and since neither the grommet it sits in nor the nose (or tank for that matter) appear to be damaged, I'll be paying a visit to a dealership tomorrow for a replacement.

Just make sure it's the pump and not the hose leading out of it. I can't remember if the hose has a clamp on to the pump but, if it does I am assuming that's tight as well.

Good luck.
