I replaced the idle sensor and the service engine light went away. However, the car still idles at about 2000 rpm's. When I turn on the AC the engine idles at 1500. It has new spark plugs and wires. No other valts are triped. Please help.

Re: Idle problem, please help!
year/engine?
what was the code? and there is no idle sensor - there is a idle air control, is that what you meant? without knowing anything else, i would guess the ECT is bad or the throttle body is gunked up with carbon. |

Re: 2000 SL1 High Idle problem, please help!
Sorry,
Its a 2000 SL1 with 120,000 miles. I'm not sure what the code said. But the guy at Auto Zone sold me the Idle Control Sensor. |

Re: Idle problem, please help!
try taking the intake tubing off, and spraying sensor-safe carb and choke cleaner into the throddle body to get the gunk out. without knowing the code i can't say much else.

Re: Idle problem, please help!
or you may have a vacuum leak, with the intake tubing attached and the engine running, spray the same carb cleaner around the outside of intake manifold and throttle body if the engine bogs down, you found the leak.(some SOHCs tend to leak from the intake manifold gasket)
