Drilled and slotted rotors?
Hi, Just bought slotted rotors for my Alero. After installing them ,I noticed that they could be installed in a different direction(slots from center pointing to rear or to front). Does it make a difference? What would happen if they are wrong?
Thanks, Tom |

Re: Drilled and slotted rotors?
You want to make it so that the part of the slot closest to the outer edge of the rotors touch the pad first.

slotted rotors
So if this were the pad ]and it was mounted in front of the rotor the slot would be pointed this way from the hub \ ? The front ones I installed came out like that ,but the rear ones are pointed toward the rear like / . I've heard both ways so now I'm not sure. Thanks for the help though. Tom

I got them off Ebay from Unit Imports I think. I did contact them and from what they told me all the slots point toward the rear from the center. I did alot of searching and after reading alot of info ,I found out that if the rotor vanes are directional ,that they need to go in the correct direction no matter how the slots of holes are. Kinda like a pump impeller. If the vanes are straight ,it makes no difference although one way may make a humming sound if they are pointed like this \ toward the front(which is the way I have mine) and it does make a whirring sound when I stop, so I am going to switch them ,depending on what the vanes look like. Hope this helps some other drivers with a similar question. THanks Guys. Tom
