406 Air con problem

When using aircon in the 406 it keeps cuttiing in and out, blows cold air for about 20 secs then cuts out for a few minutes, back on for 20 secs then off again etc etc. Tried it on auto and various fan positions, same symptoms. Temp set at 14C Am I doing something wrong or does it need looking at ?

Thumbs up Re: 406 Air con problem

Hi,

Your problem seems to be with the Engine cooling system. If you have already checked the vehicle system on the Peugeot Diag computer and have not found any faults, it is quite possible that the vehicle is slightly over heating than what the internal system recommends. The on board computer then cuts the AC off to ensure that engine coolent te,p is maintained.

If this is not the problem, there are two more areas to be checked out.

1) AC Temp sensor fitted in the AC cooler. The Peugeot Diagnostics however will detect this problem.

2) BSI Faulty. This is also a common fault. Unfortunately, the only solution in this instance is to replace the BSI.

In order to correctly identify which of these problems you have, it is best that you get the vehicle checked by Peugeot authorised repairman.

All the Best.
