Nascar starting races under yellow

Personally i hate it when nascar starts races under yellow it's so stupid, i know it's for the safety of all the drivers and thats fine but must they count the laps. i am getting sick and tired of all these new rules nascar is making up it was alot better before they started doing all this stupid crap.

Eh, sometimes they have to do it in the name of television broadcasting to move the show along...sad, but true.

Re: Nascar starting races under yellow

the Pepsi 400 was the saddest example of starting a race under caution. The ratings for that race weren't that high anyway, who wants to watch a race @ 11:30 PM? It didn't end until almost 2 AM! Driver safety is #1 I couldn't agree with you more. But if you care about your fans, since they're the ones who also play a share and paying for their salaries, Move the race to another time. What if Daytona didn't have lights and there was a rain delay? Guess what boys, we're moving the race until the next day. Starting the race under caution, a major no-no.

Re: Nascar starting races under yellow

This is not a new procedure, NASCAR has been doing this for a long time. Having 43 cars on track with slicks and hot V8 engines will dry the track off a lot faster than just pace cars will, and it gives the drivers a better opportunity to see exactly what the track conditions are and how they will change prior to going green. Better to start the race late than make 100,000 people change travel plans or miss the race because it has to be rescheduled. Fans on TV aren't paying nearly as much to watch the race as the fans in the stands that actually attend the events are.

yes, i know that, but my problem with it is they count the laps, and give points to leader without him even having to race for them

Re: Nascar starting races under yellow

so should they stop giving points for guys that stay out when they're the last car on the lead lap and then lead a lap under caution? Cmon, the polesitter is probably going to lead the first lap anyway and the bonus points for leading a lap get thrown around so much it shouldn't make a difference. Also realize that when races run late it seriously screws up the TV schedule for the rest of the day.
