'95 APV cooling fan won't turn on...

The waterpump went out, my wife overheated it trying to get it home, I replaced the pump, thermostat and coolant and now the fan won't turn on. I don't know where the relay is to even check it. It wants to stay cool but even up to "the red mark" the fan won't kick on. Also, the "check engine" light is flashing quickly.

Did overheating it do something? Dumb question... If you folks can help me with the relay location, I can at least check that and the fan its self.

~ Thanks much

Did you bleed the air out? An air lock can cause the thermostat and/or temp sensor to not sense coolant temp correctly. Start with that, if you haven't already done so. I bet that's your answer.

Thanks, I'll make sure they system isn't leaking. I have filled the radiator to the top while running and quickly capped it in hope of sealing it with minimal air. However, when it is cooled and I remove the cap, the level is low.

In addition, after looking at photos/diagrams on this message board showing the bleeder bolt, my '95 3.1 does not have the bolt at the top of this housing. It is flat with no tap. Is there another?

I think you should have one on the opposite end-back by the tranny, where the radiator hose goes to the motor. Which motor in this one?

At any rate, even if there is no bleeder, I like to fill 'em to the top, cap and run till warm, then let sit a few minutes, open and top off, repeat until no more can go in. Otherwise, you will have air. By running up to temp, then shutting off, you let the coolant backflow to the thermostat, allowing it to open, releasing any air as it does. Otherwise, the pump may just be compressing a large volume of air against the t'stat, and it will not open unless submerged, no matter how hot it gets.

Hopefully you didn't unseal the intake during the overheat. Watch your oil for any wierdness.
