I have a 95 lumina LS. Lately it's been accelerating poorly at high speeds and it makes a bit of a whining noise when I accelerate. I had the fuel pump replaced about 6 months ago. Is it possible that the fuel filter is starting to clog again? It also had a tune-up done about 4-5 months ago.
What could be causing the whining noise? I only hear it when I accelerate. Thanks. |

The whine is probably the alternator. The bearings go bad after a while and they make a whining noise. AS for it being slow, I really duno what to tell ya. Get some Seafoam from Advance or Napa and run it through a vacuum line. Might help and it sure cant hurt.

Re: 95 lumina whining and a little slow
if the whining is the alternator, the additional drag of the faulty alternator is probably what is causing your poor acceleration at high speeds, as the engine is not in it's optimal torque range. The additional load forces the engine to work harder than it was designed to at a given RPM, which will cause the feel of lost power.
