1970 Cj5

I'm new to Jeeps. I've always wanted on and now I have a 1970 CJ5. It's kind of rough cosmetically, but feels solid in the mechanical areas.
I have a few questions regarding this thing though. It has a V6 and 3 speed manual tranny with what acts like some sort of high low on the transfer case, making actually like a 6 speed and capable of running highway speeds. Does anybody have info on these two compnents? What size is the V6, it looks pretty small, but feels torquey. What is the Transfer case called?
Also did the 1970's come with a factory hard top? This thing has a metal hard top that doesn't look right. I think it may have come off of an old Land Rover Series I. It slopes up to the back and has square corners and edges, plus it doesn't fit quite right and the metal doors look custom made. It also has 2 gas tanks, one under the driver seat and the other in the right rear, above the fender. I can't seem to locate a tank cutover switch, so how does this work, or is it custom also?
Sorry this is so long, but I really like this Jeep, and for $3000, i think it was a decent deal, but there is a lot I don't know about these things.

Thanks!

HI, THE JEEP THAT YOU BOUGHT PROBABLY HAS A T-90 THREE SPEED TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSFER CASE YOU'RE REFFERING TO IS A SPICER 18 WITH HI & LO RANGE. THE V/6 ENGINE IN YOUR JEEP IS A 225 CI. JEEP DAUNTLESS V/6--JEEP BOUGHT THE BUILD RIGHTS FROM BUICK. IT WAS A 198 CI. JEEP BORED IT OUT TO 225 CI. IN STOCK FORM IT HAS 160 HP. IT IS A STRONG ENGINE. I HAVE A 70 JEEP V/6 IN MY 59 CJ5 WHICH HAS BEEN WORKED TO 245HP. QUESTIONS GIVE A HOLLER-----AT [email protected]-- I'LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS DALE
