Re: Location of PCV valve

I can't find the damn thing either! Where's it at? The chilton only says it's on the valve cover. I've looked at both valve covers and it's not there!

Re: Location of PCV valve

The Haynes manual isn't too clear either, and I don't personally own one, however from what I can make out the PCV valve is on the rear valve cover, with the hose running up to the middle of the plenum (I know that was for the 3.1 V6, and the manual just mentions "V6 model shown"). Check around the back valve cover near the middle, I'd suggest. I know the PCV valve on the later 3800s was in a funky place, under the MAP sensor on the left side of the intake.

Re: Location of PCV valve

I've pulled the engine forward to replace the spark plugs, the O2 sensor and the pcv valve. The PCV valve is not on the rear valve cover.

I have a 93 3.1.

I don't even think they even installed one on my car, maybe for a test. Maybe that's why I get such great gas mileage. 42 mpg city/highway.

Re: Location of PCV valve

you must have a Lumina APV Van, as the car never came with a 3.8. On the 3.8, it is located on the drivers side of the upper intake manifold under a little football shaped plastic cover with a molded in hex nut in the center..

Re: Location of PCV valve

for the rest of you with 3.1 lumina cars, , the pcv valve is located in the back valve cover in the center under the upper intake plenum, it's almost impossible to get out without removing the upper plenum.

Re: Location of PCV valve

On the 3.8, don't you just yank off that grey cover over the injection, and its' under there?

Mine (3.1) is on the front, looking right at you.

Re: Location of PCV valve

I should have specified better. I was describing the location on a vin-t(91-94), your's is a vin-m(94-up). thanks for the clarification jeff, we don't want to mis-lead anyone.
