300hp with rb20 easy?

Hello, I own a 1989 240SX with the KA24E. Timing chain snapped and now the engines shot. I can get an RB20 for a little bit less then an sr20det and was wondering if the rb 20 is capable of 300hp with basic mods such as intake, exhaust, fmic, and boost controller. Im not looking to go all out on this motor and my money is limited but if I can acheive 300hp with those modifications I will be purchasing this engine. (rather go rb20 then sr because it has a timing belt, and i no longer trust chains, like the sr20)

300 bhp or 300rwhp? Either is not hard. I'm making 300rwhp with hks2530, full exhaust, POD, fmic, fuel pump, SAFC and 15.5psi.

brake horsepower and wheel horsepower are the same thing....usable horsepower. you mean whp or FHP <--- flywheel horsepower. how much the car makes at the crank.

you can make it with a stock turbo, but they are only good for so much psi. i would suggest an upgrade.

Umm the factory ceramic turbo is only good for maybe 300hp total hp, not at the wheels. I wouldn't suggest boosting it much either as they fail quite easily.

So then about the HP or less of a stock GT-R is all youll really get . Maybe an 2-6 swap is in order.

There is no such thing as cheap and easy 12's.

Just FYI.

My GTS-T has an upgraded exhaust/intake and boost controller, runs 16psi without problems, should make around 300hp but haven't been to a dyno, but there's no way in hell it can run a 12. I've turned it up to 1.4bar before but it pinged like hell so I backed off, but the turbo seems very capable at the 15-16 (1-1.1) range. With a ported head, large turbo, FMIC and so on I wouldn't see why 400hp wouldn't be easy. RB20DET.com is a great site for info on that engine.

Actually, that RB20DET.com site has a lot of sections that aren't up right now, sorry.

And how do you come up with this? GTR turbos flow around 220 each. They have a very small exhaust housing with an A/R of .46 and since there are two of them, well you do the math.

Also keep in mind the standard injectors on an RB20 motor are 257cc each. The basic rule of thumb for measurement, since it is a 6 cyl is 1cc=1hp. You can make up slightly more with ignition timing but not a lot. There are so many variables in making hp.

Re: 300hp with rb20 easy?

is there any turbos from other nissans that bolt on? such as maybe from a 80's 300ZX? My friend has been boosting 15psi on his for 2 years, i beleive its a T3 turbo?

Oh by the way this is in a 240sx not a skyline, 300hp to the wheels should break into high 12's if i get decent traction.

A question about using bigger injectors: if i change the diameter of the MAF housing will the bigger injectors work, or do i still have to tune the ecu or use a safc.

well you said it would hit up 300 at the crank, giving it a bit less than the hp of a stock GT-R at the wheels.

Re: 300hp with rb20 easy?

When you are staying stock do you mean (engine) or completely factory standard?
