Unhappy Jaguar Owner

I purchased a 2000 S-Type 4.0 NEW and will NEVER buy another Jaguar!

The old theory that Jaguar's are always in the shop are true!

There have been more problems with this car, and after it hit 60,000 miles, everything has gone wrong!

The most recent problem... there was a recall on the front-end sometime ago. The dealer in Portland Oregon looked at it, and fixed one side under warranty, determining the other side did not need repair. Earlier this year, I had a major front end replacement to do and both Jaguar and the Dealer wanted no part in helping, even though I had all the maintenance to that point done at the dealer.

Last year alone, I had to invest $5,000 just to maintain this vehicle and keep it on the road.

Can't wait to dump this lousy vehicle.

My experience is that Jaguar quality is below par and they do not stand behind their vehicles once sold.

Hopefully others who are considering a purchase of a Jaguar will see this, and save themselves a ton of headaches and expenses!

2003 S-Types are much improved over 2000-2002 S-Types.

Have you checked with owners of the new aluminum Jaguar XJ?

Porsche hasn't fixed their RMS problem even though they know about it. RMS (rear main seal) has plagued water-cooled Porsches since the 1997 Boxster (except for the 996 Turbo, GT2, GT3, and the Cayenne). They didn't even fix it for the new 2005 911 and 2005 Boxster.

I have personal experience and cancelled checks to prove my point.

Never claimed a thorough marketing study was completed, so if you have one, get ready to be burned and keep your checkbook out.

Interestingly enough, I was pro Jaguar and nieve like you when I first bought the vehicle...

By the way, I clearly noted the model and year of my vehicle on the posting to be accurate, and never mentioned anything about an XJ.

I agree with tmelvin, my wife bought a 2000 s type we now know what the "s" stands for. Every time this car has gone in for servicing (even oil changes) something else needs fixing. I have worked on my own cars all my life but I told the wife I am not touching that car!

I have a 84 Mercedes almost 250,000 miles on it no probs, Toyota 90 pickup just broke a timing chain 250,000 hard miles, my fault I heard the noise and did not get to it on time. Both these vehicles are better than the Jag!

The Jag sure looks nice though.
