Neons aint slow

Im tired of seein honda forums talkn bout neons are trash. alright just because they dont have a japanese engine swap or they dont have logos like type r or v tech and stuff like that dont mean theyre slow. neons stock can beat civics stock sables and tauruses stock and a bunch of other cars.ive got a neon and it roasted an mx-6 and a civic wit and intake

Re: Neons aint slow

well the problem with your complaint is your comparing your car to some slow as hell cars, who ever said a civic was fast?? I dont think a 17 second quarter mile time is fast. I own a neon with a single cam and 5 speed and i can admit its not fast at all. And also saying that neons can beat stock sables, tauruses, and civics isnt saying much at all. Who cares if your stock car is slow, i dont, and who cares what ricer civic owners think either??? They think honda symbols(type R, VTEC, SI), bodykits, altezzas, ricer headlights and painted interiors is cool and makes your car go fast. So again who in their right mind would care what a ricer would think?

Re: Neons aint slow

I second that. The Neon (or ANY of its competition) is not a fast car. Vipers are fast. Corvettes are fast. GT-Rs are fast. Family sedans and grocery getters are not. The Neon can be made to be fast, and some of the models like R/T, ACR, are really good track cars right off the lot. They still don't compare to /real/ fast cars, though.

Just because some idiot with a fart tip and a bigdumbwing thinks his/her car is fast and drives it that way, doesn't mean it is.

The bottom line is, don't worry about what others say about your car. Set 'em straight, but don't spend much energy doing it. Some folks can't be taught. :P

Talking

It is not just Honda guys either. i have a cougar as well as my neon and i was on a cougar forum trying to find out what is the best bang for the buc to get my cougar a little quicker. it is the v6 MTX but it will not keep up with my Neon. when i told them that they all went off on me like i was nuts. "there is no way your neon would be a v6 MTX cougar" The neon is much faster i run 9.81 1/8 and 15.2 quarter and the cougars run like 16's quarter. to make a long story longer it is not just the honda guys it is everyone that loves there car. If it is fast or slow.

Re: Neons aint slow

well, when it comes down to it, japaneese cars just bite in general, i mean, yeah, the high end ones are sweet, but these teeny weeny little tuner cars that you see people drag racing with are jsut kid stuff. the point it, you can NEVER beat a real american muscle car, not saying that a neon is (which is also what i drive) but neons do come from that legendary line of 502 big blocks stuffed into the sweetest looking bodys around, like camaros or corvettes for example, so bottom line, i totaly agree

Damn man, I hope your not saying your Neon runs 15.2 stock cause my personal best in my stock probe gt was 15.457 and i was eating up Neons everywhere except my buddies ACR he has things done to it and it pull hard in 3rd.

I am not trying to diss you or anything, but I don't believe neons do that cause neons at the track have constant low to high 16's unless there tinkered with...but honestly I have seen a neon smoke a Cobra (not the new supercharged ones)

I do have couple of things done. I have an iceman intake, 55mm TB, motor mount inserts, flowmaster 40 series muffler(not cat back). The last time i was at the track i did not have the T/B or the MM's done and had tons of wheel hop. i figure i should be able knock a 10th off. If i remember right isn't the probe lighter than the cougar. the cougars are heavy cars. my neon is only 2550 #'s. that helps alot. Also my car is the same as a Coupe ACR minus the adjustable struts and a little larger sway bars. the ACR's are made for handling so my Sport runs the same when it comes to drag racing.

Yeah they are lighter than Cougars, and I believe their lighter than MX-6's that why Probes win even though they have the same Engine. But my buddy with that ACR told me with a tower brance and motor mounts gave him an average .2-.4. He said he couldn't hook up for shit before that.

ya it was real bad before the MM's. i just put the strut bars on so have not had a chance to test them(lost of snow in IA). but i figure i will be real close to 14.9 now. if i can do that i will be very happy. i normally just autocross the car but i do like to drag when i get the chance. i love my neon.

Yeah good thing you said about that. Iv'e been to the strip and all and I hear people talking about AutoX but I have absolutely no clue of where to go. Is it like the track, just pay your money and whip around a few times??? If so man let me know I would love to take my Datona there. And when I get a F-Bird I'd love to take that. The only fun I ever had with rear wheel drive was with my friends cobra, he let me do some doughnuts and 8's on the ice. I would love to take a rear wheel drive to the extreme around some turns...nice. holler back...

were are you located at. i know i can find a club somewere around. i have to admit i started drag racing but autoxing is so much funner. dragracing was fun with my duster because it was very fast but when i comes to autoxing you do not need a fast car to win. it is the driver as well as the set up. right now my neon will take a lot of vette and z-28 when i autox. those are fast cars and i would not stand a chance on the street or the strip but it is a lot closer on the autox course. also check out my web site under project cars. i have an 89 CS daytona T-II with about 250 HP and an 88 lebaron convt T-II 5-speed with 300 HP.

Wow, that's nice but it looks like your turbo is missing, i guess thats when you put your other one one. Im guessing that by where the turbo is located on mine. Oh, my Daytona is in absolute mint condition, Under 80,000 miles, no rip or tears on the leather no burns, paint is mint etc. And I deff. do NOT wanna get rid of it, BUT The engine blew, my mother was using it to go to work when her Breeze broke down. And she got it towed home one day and said that the turbo was revving real high even when she let off the gas. And I was puzzled because that NEVER happened to me and was running great. So now there telling me 1800 dollars for a new engine, i do not wanna get a used one, and I think thats bull...... So I guess Im going to let it sit until I can find a better deal. You have two of them turbo engines, would you happen to know any good/cheap places. Im not that willing to dump thousands and thousands into a car from the 80's ya know, but they are great cars I loved it till it croaked.
