1968 cougar 428 CJ

Help ,I am looking at buying a 1968 cougar 428 cj , auto .car is in fair shape.how do I establish if this is a real 428 car .and were do I look to find its value.

CCOA (Cougar Club of America) has a database that will decode you VIN and dataplate. Very helpful. I have a 68 RX7.
