Unhappy Humming noice from Engine when idle

I started observing a distinct humming noice from the engine when idle in 1998 V6 Honda accord that has about 90K miles. The noice is not audible when driving because of the road noice. Wondering if something is about to break down. Any advice/suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance...

Could be your pulley on your compressor.

Don't get an underdrive pulley. You'll end up having trouble with your power source. Underdrive pulleys are considerably smaller then your OEM pulley. Picture your crankshaft spinning at the rate it does now but with a smaller pulley..!...guess what happens?! Less revolutions per spin leaving your alternator and A/C compressor being deprived of what they are used to getting. I had an underdrive pulley on mine and took it off. Waste of time and money! Felt absolutely no difference in HP or torque. But did kill an alternator and battery. Don't do it.. don't know about Orthodox pulleys but they look like they only come in sets of two (alternator, power steering?) but supposedly they are the same size but lighter.

Underdrive pulleys suck!
