98 Bonneville hesitation

I have a 1998 Bonneville and when I am hitting the gas and when I am just coasting I have hesitatoin. My check engine light just came on yesterday. I put some fuel treatment into my tank yesterday. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestoin on what it might be. Someone said I might need a tune-up. But I wouldn't think the check engine light would come on.

Re: 98 Bonneville hesitation

take your car to Auto-zone, and find out what caused your check engine light to come on (they will scan it for free). Until you find that out, anything else you do is wasted time.

Re: 98 Bonneville hesitation

How many miles do you have on it? A tune up probably would help, but yes, get the fault codes first.

It has about 114,000 on it. I have had it awhile and have never had a tune-up on it. I was told that is what I need or it could be one of the fule injectors are clogged.

had the same problem in a 96 ssei its probably the wires or plugs itll throw miss fire signals to the computer and thats why your s.e.s light came on. If it still is missing look into a coil pack thats next

It is fixed. I had the plugs and wires changed as well as the fuel filter. Thanks
