Bucking/Hesitation Problem in 2002 Jetta GLS

I have a 2002 Jetta GLS, 1.8T, automatic transmission, 37K miles on it. For several months now, I've had a couple of problems which the local dealership thinks are related, yet they can't seem to fix them.

When I start up my car, the engine coolant temperature/level indicator lamp comes on and beeps at me. It says on the whole length of my drive, no matter how long or short the drive is. This used to happen only when it was less than 50 degrees Farenheit outside, but now it happens the first time I start my car each day, even if it's 80 degrees out. Sometimes it happens again throughout the day, but sometimes not. I am unable to detect a pattern.

The second, supposedly related, problem is this: upon starting my car and depressing the accelerator to pull forward, my car really hesitates - so much so that I doubt it's going anywhere, like it's going to stall out on me. This goes on for several seconds, then my car finally gets going. This happens every time I start it up - doesn't matter if the engine is cold or warm. It's very frustrating - and embarrassing!!

My car has been into the local dealership 3 times for these problems, but so far, they haven't been able to identify and fix the problem. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with my car? Many thanks!

Kim

Coil pack for the hesitation problem? Are you still under warranty? Any codes come up? Check engine light?

I'm not sure if the dealer has looked at the coil pack. I'll check.

Yes, the car still is under warranty, for another 12,000. Hopefully I'll get it figured out before then!

I am told the codes are inconclusive or point to things already checked out.

The engine light does not come on.

Thanks!
