Talking Prelude type-r

Hey all i am looking at purchasing a 93-94 (forgot to ask exact year) prelude type-R. The seller wants 5g's for it which sems reasonable because it comes with an exhaust and some other stuff. just wondering if you think this is a good deal. The cars has low miles and doesnt get used much.

also how reliable are these cars, i realize they are honda's but just wondering.

thanks for your time

Re: Prelude type-r

There is no such thing as a Prelude Type R. There is a Prelude VTEC that was made from 92-96. It's probably a N/A Prelude with a Type R badge on the back. Don't be fooled. Even so, 5K isn't too bad a price. Call B.S. on the Type R crap and offer 4K, see what he/she says.

perhaps the car is newer than i thoguht i just found an article mentioning that the prelude in 1999+ was built to type r specs?

"In the later 1999+ Prelude's the power was raised to 200ps(197bhp from 185bhp). This was achieved by using camshafts of Type-S(JDM) or Type-R specification, with more lift and overlap, and pistons with a higher compression ratio(11:1)"

Found this info here http://www.tsys07804.pwp.blueyonder....elude_vtec.htm

could someone check this out and let me know whats up?

Re: Prelude type-r

By Type-R spec, it means the stuff used on the Civic Type-R and Integra Type-R. There is NO Prelude Type-R. Find out exactly what year and trim level it is. Also, how many miles does it have, and exactly what aftermarket stuff is on it?
