Thumbs down Dash LEDs don't work.

The LEDs for the shift indicator and the milelage decided to go black.Anybody have this problem before? This is on a 98 ZR2 and the rest of the lights work and the gauges too.

Re: Dash LEDs don't work.

I don't think it would be a fuse considering the rest of the cluster works. As far as a picture of the LEDs,did I mention that they didn't work now?Besides I think your S10 has the same setup, the LEDs are green in color and read P-R-N-D-3-2-1 and of course you know what milelage looks like. Can't describe it any better than that.

Re: Dash LEDs don't work.

try removing your cluster and check all your connections. the display is not led's but a flourescent diplay. if that doesn't remedy it and you are handy with a soldering iron, open it up and check the connections around the glass portion on the bottom. the display is lit up by a dc voltage with an a/c reference. if either one of these lines is broken it will go dim

Re: Dash LEDs don't work.

Well it came on for a couple of weeks and now is out again. These lines you talk about. Are they part of the circuit board or are they part of the hundred that rise up the display?

check them right where the display meets the board, there and where it plugs into the harness is where connections usually go bad. i have had to swap my whole cluster due to water and and found one for 50 on ebay. the mileage was close but i had to fill out a sticker and put it inside the dooe with the mileage at the time i took out the old one and what it was on the new one
