17" wheels= bad camber?

i was thinking of putting 17" motegi MR7's on my 2g Talon and i was wondering if anyone around here had any problems with rims that size. i also was wondering if there would be any effect on performance, since larger wheels tend to make your gears seem taller.

I got 17's w/ no problems. I got low profile wheels though. You prob want to do that. Even if you dont, you should be fine. There is still a big gap for me.

Good Luck!

Re: 17" wheels= bad camber?

i got 17's with 215/50/17 (oversized, all they had in stock) kumho 711's... i havnt had a problem with wear at all. 12k miles later, there wearing really good and evenly and i still have at least 60-70% tread left. i would recomend that tire with it as cheap as it is... great dry traction and iv yet to get them close to hydroplaning.. really stable through turns.. gl and happy shopping haha peace

Re: 17" wheels= bad camber?

i have 17's with 215/40/ZR17 Kumho Ecsta's and with that size tire on that rim, overall diamater it's an inch smaller than stock diamater. if you want low profile tires, go with 18's and 40 profile tires. if you want 17's, i'd go with some 45 profile tires, or maybe even 50, otherwise they look too small (and then you have to lower your car 3.5" and bust the hell out ur POLYURETHANE bodykit

Re: 17" wheels= bad camber?

and you'll also need a small camber kit if you get 17's with a lower profile tire (less than 45 profile)

Re: 17" wheels= bad camber?

you will not need a camber kit unless you lower you car more than an inch and a few. Get more meat on your rims than those low pros...get 225/45/17s, taht s what I run...they are chunky enough not to rub your rims on the asphalt and much tougher.

upsizing doesnt do anywhere near the tire damage as incorrectly lowering the vehicle does.

performance wise you wont feel anything noticeable...ride WILL get more uncomfortable and more bumpy once you leave the stock setup.

Re: 17" wheels= bad camber?

i run 245/45/17 on a 17" x 7" rims.. not lowered still on factory height.. i dint use any chamber kit.. and the ride is smooth as hell.. and i had this setup for only 5 days now... the funny thing is that everybody gives me compliment on my wide tires.. they say they look sexy but none has said anything about the new rims
