ECU Upgrade

OK, i wanna upgrade my ecu on my 99 lude (i.e. fuel/air ratio, vtec) but i dont wanna spend upwards of $1500 on a upgrade such as the AEM, and Hondata. There's the Venom 400, Greddy E-Manage, Jet V-Force, Apexi VAFC, and the list goes on. Anyway i just wanted to know if anyone could tell me my best bet on an upgrade for $500 or less. If anyone has had any experience with any of these ecu modules, good or bad, let me know. Thanks for any help given.

Re: ECU Upgrade

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that the basic Hondata, which allows that stuff to be tuned by a shop, started around $295 and each addition costs a little extra.

Re: ECU Upgrade

yeah but then you gotta pay for the dyno hours which costs more than the system itself.... so plan on spendin upwards of 700-800 on that

Re: ECU Upgrade

The VAFC. You don't really even need a VAFCII, since the original has all the capabilities you'd need. Of course, it is nothing compared to Hondata, but it is a good transition device before you take the full step. Uberdata might also be up your alley.

Re: ECU Upgrade

Well Hondata was on my list of future upgrades, so now I'm curious. Would it really take that long to tune? I mean at $75 an hour, I figured it would take maybe 2-3 or even less with experienced tuners.
