Breaks squeak at a certain range.

On my full sized car, I have a nice set of rotors and calipers (they have to be decent in order to stop this 2.2 ton vehicle). The thing is, with 4 new rotors and pads, the breaks squeak when the peddle is at a certain position. I'm not purposely trying to make them squeak, but when I try to come to a stop, the breaks start screeching and by adjust the peddle, I can make the sound stop (usually by pressing it further down). How can I tune my breaks in order to gain more performance out of them and stop this screeching?

You are asking two distinctly different questions.

If you want more performance from your brakes, start with good tires, better brake pads, and think about stainless steel brake lines.

Screeching is sometimes due to dust vibrating between the back of the pads and calipers. There is a blue grease made to specifically eliminate this. Check with your shop/mechanic.
