cavy z24 vs talon tsi

hey guys, i got a 97 cavy z24 5spd modded with stage 2 clutch, headers, intake, exhuast. I had the fastest car out of my group (yea, pretty sad group) but now my friend just got a 97 talon tsi completely stock 5spd. I want to know who would win - we are going to race sooner or later, but Im thinking by how much he has the advantage or if its just a drivers race. Help me out guys - this is my repuatation.

its completely stock. Its got a 2.0L engine with a stock turbo and AWD. i've heard its hard to get off the line with AWD so I think that might be my advantage?

if you race him from a stop then i think he might beat you. they run about 15 flat in the quarter mile but they are easly made fast as fuck for relativly cheap. btw your car looks nice as fuck

yea, i think we'll just have to race it out and see what happens - i will be amazed if i beat him, just pray he screws up his start.

well these cavs run mid 15s stock so it could be a good race and yes we can make them fast cheap also... and i agree your car is nice... looks clean

Hmm...thats a close call...The only thing i can tell you is to race and find out...I think if he knows how to drive an AWD DSM he'll have you off the line but you should catch up due to the awd system...but good luck and have fun.

there is no way you will beat him out the hole. I have driven a few and launching them aint hard. floor it and dump the clutch and see ya! unless he misses a shift or the car runs like poo dont even try it. unless you can get a nos kit soon.

Yeah, I have seen then raced before, I don't thing the Cavi will win. My two friends raced, One had the Eagle TSI, I think it had an exhaust & intake. The other had a 93 Camaro, and by far was not stock. it was a close race, but the Talon won.

wow, alright, well I think were gonna race once he's "confident with stick and his launches." I heard his car is only 210 hp and a little under 4000 pounds. Thats a pretty heavy car. I'm gonna pretty much strip my car of all the seats and spare and if I can get it down to like 2450 pounds 160 hp im set. I'm figuring my cat, exhuast, intake, and clutch will give me the extra 10 HP and good start. I'll let you guys know what happens. Still give input tho, god knows when he'll be ready to race. If the guy knows how to race...he will kill u badly off the start and then it will be a catch up race from there on. My frined has a 95 talon tsi awd with a 5 speed and when that was stock it ran like a raped ape. Now he is going to be racing it and has a buch of mods done to it. Motor.Tranny, Exhaust, and much more....by the time he is done...hes hoping to run at least 10s all day long..and possilbly hit a 9 in there somewhere.

But if the guy doesnt know how to launch and shift gears it will be closer than one would think.

And just a side off comment...it says u ran a 15.1 @ 88mph...i was wonding...my car runs inbetween 87 and 90 mph...its a 3.1 with a 5 speed multi port with only a K&N Air Filter in it...so far...just wondering what it would run in a 1/4..

if ur talking bout my friend...he already has all his stuff brand new...everything from motor tranny transfercase shock struts EVERYTHING he can do he did....

and if it where to break down...we would just fix her up....and wouldnt have to worry bout the bank cuz he has a sponsership for that stuff...must be nice ahh?
