Re: Talk me into it...

Okay.

1) You're comparing an MR2 and a mustang. Smack.

2) MR2's outhandle mustangs, easy.

3) Like mustangs (the V8s anyway), it takes minimal mods to run 12's.

4) Chicks dig 2seaters

5) And t-tops.

6) And dont understand the whole "engine in the back" thing, but find it sexy none the less.

7)Rear wheel drive.

8)Turbo (patsew, and all that jazz) There's nothing like the feel of a turbocharger.

9) the MR setup is ideal for handling on the street.

10) MR2's are rare, and they look like little ferrari's. There was a rumor going around that the MR2 was a lotus design. Chicks dig that too lol.

11) You dont have to haul your friends around in a 2-seater.

12) More trunk space than the average car. (front and rear )

driver a mk2 turbo for acceleration, or a mk1 for handling... and we won't have to talk you into it.

Re: Talk me into it...

ModifiedCars04, welcome to the MR2 world.

The best thing you can do is get a ride in an MR2 with someone who has owned one and knows how to drive one well. I would recommend the turbo MR2.

You may want to check out my Web site for plenty of pictures and videos. Go to "Hydes" page and then to multimedia and thetrack history for videos.

You might be amazed at what can be accomplished in an MR2

Re: Talk me into it...

I personally know people that, before i bought one, didnt know an MR2:

-Was turbocharged
-Created 200hp/200tq
-Was RWD
-Had t-tops
-Ran a 14.7 stock
-Had the engine in the back
-Came with LSD
-Had 2 trunks.

lol... Most people are ignorant to just how awesome an MR2 is. But i'd rather have it that way.

Re: Talk me into it...

JDM YO, you just listed 8 things and only one of them applies to all MR2s. The rest are options (or possiblities) on the MR2. The engine is in the middle, not the "back."

Thanks guys, The reason I'm loveing the Mr2 are the smooth body lines & the eng. located in the " Middle " instead of the " Front "

Also, Because the car is a MR RWD, Does it get good traction? With the weight of the eng. near the rear wheels and all?

Jeff, youre doing it again. Its quite obvious to tell that i drive a markII MR2, and that this topic is based on a MKII. There was absolutely no need to be a smartass about it. I could be a prick and pick apart your posts, but i leave you alone. Please return the favor.

Oh my bad, i must have had you SO fcking confused by saying the engine was in the rear, instead of the "middle".

Re: Talk me into it...

Im JDM Yo, if you want to take my personally, I can not stop you. Maybe at some point you will realize that what I am interested in on message boards is conveying accurate, helpful information.

Although he referenced a 94 MR2, he did not reference a turbo.
That being said, you can not offer up 14.7, 200ft/hp anda turbocharger as a definitive.

Secondly T-tops and LSD were options, so again you can not imply that he "is going to get that" when he buys the MR2.

You may think I am being "picky" about the engine being in the middle instead of the "back," but I assure you people who have a rear-engine car know to differentiate from a mid-engine car. After all, what do you think the "M" in MR2 is?

Again, it's your call if you want to take my post personally. I just rather not see an innocent person think they are buying something they are not because of bad information they got online.

how does that define mid engine? lol the definition is if the engine is infront of the rear wheels and behind the front wheels... mid engine cars can have the engines in the front too

id say a better example of a rear engine car would be something like an old vw bug or carrera (obviously not the gt)

also on topic i dont think that jdm's post was accurate... the mr2 doesnt have any more space then an "adverage" car... if anything it has less... the rear trunk is decent sized but id say less then adverage and you cant really fit much in the front...

also yes the mr2 does get good traction in the rear since if i remember correctly the weight distribution is 40/60... it helps traction in a launch but it also causes the rear swing out during turns.... this can be looked at a good or a bad thing depending on driver preference (i think the rear swinging out thing is overexadurated a lot from other people)... the car's suspention was changed in 93 to make it more "driver friendly" ... some people (like jekylandhyde) prefer the 91 suspention... it all comes down to personal preference....

Mmm Back Grips Good, Am I The Only One That Has Trouble Getting It To Start A Donut?

Few Times Ive Dropped It To Spin The Car Round And Unfortunately The Car Didn't Spin... It Just Pushed Forward...

Sure Its Easy Enough If You Do It From A Rolling Start... Fr Car Would Just Spin, Guess I'm Stil Learning

Well, I'm looking for a Mr2 right now Perferibly, a 91-97. I've red a little about MR-2's & I realized that T-tops MAY not be the best, Alot of owners say theres leaks. I am looking to spend MAYBE 6,000$ on the car itself, conditions must be driveing w/ A/c & no rust, kiles don't really matter. Does anybody know where I can get a Mr-2 that fits that describtion?

i havent had any leaks with the t-top and the majority of mr2's have a/c ... it depends where they live and how often it rains in the area they are from... assuming you live in america.. the last production year was in 1995 so unless you import one from japan or something of the sort you are stuck with 91's to 95's (94's and 95's both being quite rare)

with $6,000 you should be able to find a pretty good condition 93 turbo which is what i would most likely recamend getting... the price spikes over $10,000 for the turbos at 94 and 95 for the reason above

there are plenty of mr2s on ebay.com (obviously), xcars.com, autotrader.com, and mr2oc.com (in the mr2's for sale section)

gl on your purchase and if u find one, welcome to the mr2 community
