Re: The Info . . .

It's a slightly lighter, slightly more powerful M3 with a factory option of running semi-slick tyres, which make for most of the performance advantage over the standard M3. It's a very fast, very grippy car, but probably doesnt offer enough over the standard M3 for all the extra money.

Re: M3 Csl?

It's faster on a track then the regular M3, its worth the money if your into racing otherwise the regular M3 is fast enough. The CSL also has no sunroof it has a carbon fiber top instead, saves alot of weight. The CSL has 17 more HP. The regular M3 can be modified to be as fast as the CSL very easily but the chances are that you'll lose the rasp exhaust note and personally I need that rasp exhaust note from the M3, for me it makes the car even better when you hear it. Many people hate the rasp, I simply love it.

Re: M3 Csl?

The sound of the CSL is just mesmerising. It's an amazing sound. Mostly it comes from the airbox and other things that are different than the normal M3.
Everything on the CSL has been made to save weight. For example, the trunk floor of the CSL is made out of cardboard. It has an aluminum hood, and a CF roof.

Re: M3 Csl?

Yea, there is no way I am paying more for less. I would rather buy a normal M3, rip out the trunk and put my own cardboard, put a new high-flow intake and bondo up one of the Fog-light holes. Not worth the money, and the tires arrent even supposed to be driven in Rain... Uhhh, if I pay upwards of 60 for a car, You're damn right Im gonna drive it in the rain.

Re: M3 Csl?

That last part is untrue. It's fine to drive the car in the rain, you just can't go mental in the wet as you would in the dry. Same as the rules for normal tyres.

we have about 355-360 hp out of our m3, just with an expensive sports exhaust system, and god it sounds good! the rasp is there, but louder and crisper.

The CSL is a total waste of money! Who on earth would pay more money for less! The panels are made from plastic, and theres no comfort in it at all. You may as well start with an cheaper M3, strip it out and sell the parts, and spend the money on a new set of tyres and some under the bonnet bits. Idiotic!

The whole point of the CSL isnt really comfort... Nor is it performance at a good price. The CSL is more of a collector's car then anything else, similar to the VW R32. Its not hard to find faster cars at the same price, but if you like BMW's and you like the E46, the CSL is a dream car. So if your not a BMW Enthusiast, yea, this car is pointless, but if you are, this is a definite car to consider. So could you just take a base E46 M3, and modify it to go faster then the CSL for less money? yes, but theres alot of people out there with the money to spend on a limited edition M3.
