1991 Nissan Sentra E dying while idle

1991 Nissan Sentra E dying while idle. The motor I believe is a 1.6 but not completelly sure. When I crank it on the morning it starts ok, run from 10 to 20 minutes then it randomly shuts down while in idle. I can't really put a pattern on it and it will work fine again for some minutes then it will shut down again. It does not make any noise, it just looks like I turned the switch off and it never happen while runnig the car. Actually if I step a little on the gas it will not fail. I already changed the sparks plugs. I can change all filters and stuff but I wonder, it do not sound to me like it is a filter problem. Any help will be greatelly appreciated.

mine did that and i had to replace the fuel pump, the reason it works fine when you first start it is because the fuel pump isnt warmed up. when the fuel pump warms up it will then start to fail. I replaced mine, and it cost me somewhere around $600-700. This may or may not be your problem, but it was mine.

600 to 700 is extremely exspensive. for a fuel pump. you may have a vacumn leak. check for air leaks everywhere. ive experienced this at one time or another. another thing is checks your injectors. im not familaiar with the 1.6 but if you can unplug an injector while the car is running, and it changes then it might be that, check them all if you can, just unplug it for a second, you'll no if it makes a difference. also, check your battery connection just to be sure....

it cost me $637.50 dollars for the fuel pump, and labor. this may be high, but thats what i had to pay, and it fixed my problem.. so i dunno. haha could be a number of things i suppose....
