i know its a shame to build a model and than make it look like it's been in a crash but that's life.
the problem is i want it to look like the windscreen is smashed, like safety glass where it's fractured but it stayes in place. does anyone knoe how to do this ?
thanks, Chris

Jump on it then glue it back together is my guess.

Hmm, not too far from a reasonably solution. Perhaps attach an almost clear tinting film (or clear if they make it, or clear contact paper, I don't imagine it would need to be crystal clear in this application) and hit it with a round hammer. You may have to do it a few times to get an apropriate number of fractures, and put a peice of cloth between the hammer and windscreen to prevent scratches. Experiment, but it may work?

Re: crash diorama. need help !

just a thought but you could cut a large piece of the windshield and cover it with saranwrap or some other kind of celaphane(sp?). If you crinkle it up it might look similar. you could attach it with diluted elmers glue

Maybe you could use two imcompatable clear coats and purposely "craze" it. I've never tried it so I'm not sure if it's even possible.

Re: crash diorama. need help !

I have seen it done by scoring the shattered portion with a needle....then placing sugar crystals in the right spots to simulate the glass that has fallen out of the windshield.

Re: crash diorama. need help !

this is what i have dont in the past, work fairly good. Scratch thw windshield really deep, then paint the recessed scratches white.
