79 Wont go into Park?
Hey, check out my other post if you want to know more about the car.
Noone has replyed to it so I will start another thread. I have a 79 Espirit, 350 auto, wont go into park. One original owner befor me, the engine was running bad befor I replaced the Lifters timing chain and cam. Replaced with all stock. The cam that was in the 350 was almost round... I figured that caused it to run crappy, and if its runing crappy and the guy couldnt get it into park he forced it, (just a thought)..... Has anyone had this problem or does anyone know what it could be? Or maybe a damage estimate if he did in fact force it into park? It kinda sucks not having park, its been this way since I got the car... |

I have a four speed '79, and there is a piece of linkage going up to the steering column so you can't lock the column and remove the key unless the trans is in reverse. If you have something like this on the auto, maybe it is loose or needs adjusted. Just a guess, I have never looked at one with an auto.
