3rd gen civic 1.5 performance

I just bought a 1986 Civic. It is in fine shape. Except it runs very hot (has new thermostat and water pump by previous owner). I'm not so concerned with the overheating as I still need to do some diag on it. My real question is does anyone know where I can find a good place to get a camshaft, ported heads, headers, carburetor, etc. I'm not looking to go extreme, but maybe get the bastard a little better than the stock 66hp.
I am very happy to have a car that I will be able to play with and try performance parts on. (I've only had crap Saabs and a 1977 buick prior to this).
Anything you guys got will be greatly appreciated, including tips or tricks for this car.

I would be concered about it overheating...don't want to blow any shit up. Is it losing water? About the "ported heads and headers": You only have ONE head and ONE header. You can port the head yourself if you are comfortable with that. Dont take much off at all though or else you are going to just lose power. Just gasket match the head and intake manifold. About a header...hit up ebay.

i wouldnt do anything to that motor except use it as a paperweight. lets say you spend $400 on that motor... you MIGHT have 90hp... but if you take that same 400 and swap in a d16z6 youll have 125hp... not to mentions that the aftermarket support for the Z6 is a million times greater than the motor you have

I like the idea of a swap. Know anywhere I can get one?

search around, itll require some work, because your going from a carb engine to a fuel injected.. and youll need to wire vtec and such... i suggest doing some research first. youll find everything you need to know here and on Honda-tech.com
