Stripped headlight screws

Hey I just bought euro headlights for my 93 GT and they look much better than the stock headlight lenses. The only problem is that whoever owned the car before me tried to change it I think and the screws holding the metal retainer that holds the headlight lenses in place were either too rusted or he was a moron and the bottom screws on both of the lights are stripped. So a 20 minute job to change the assembly turns into a nightmare. Any suggestions on how to get the screws out would be greatly appreciated. I've tried loosening them with WD-40 and using a flat head on the part of the screw that isnt as stripped but neither worked. HELP!

I had the same problem with my fogs, one screw on each one was totaly stripped, I tried a thing they sell at any hardware store that is a drill bit thats made funny so it grips teh screw after you make a hole in it, that didn't work at all... I ended up getting mad and grabing each one and riping them off and breaking the screws, that worked lol they hold fine with only one screw in each.

I did the Euro headlight conversion to my 93 as well. I ran into a problem when installing H4 bulbs. If you choose to use H4 bulbs in your new Euro headlamps, you will have this problem too. The plug arrangement for the H4666 bulbs (stock sealed headlamp for the 93 3000GT) is different from the H4 plug arrangement.

The picutres below will show the different plug arrangments. I found a wiring harness adapter at Susquehanna Motorsports (www.susquehanna.com/susq) for around 8 bucks each.

The search engine on their website isn't working right now, but i still have my receipt. You will need 2 adapaters (one for each headlamp). The Item Code is HL66490, and its description reads: "66490 adapter for 79566." This is the harness wiring adapter from the H4666 plug to an H4 plug arrangement. You might want to call and confirm this with them.

i got my Euro headlights off e-bay. if you can't find some Euro headlights specifically for the 3000GT, then try to search for some headlights via their measurements. Susquehanna Motorsports (web address in my previous post) has some with just measurement specs. but always check e-bay...i got mine there for about 40.

hey, did you even check e-bay!?!?!

ummm, NO you didn't.

I just checked and i found the exact kind i purchased about a year ago. they even have the gay little blue city light in them that really shines greenish if you hook it up. go to e-bay, search " 3000gt euro" or here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33710 . there are 3 auctions.

BUT what the auction seller fails to recognize or tells you is that you will need the wiring harness adapter i spoke of in my earlier post.

On the topic of upgrading to euro headlights...i have noticed that with my euro headlight 'upgrade,' the only upgrade that actually occurred was 1) i can change my bulbs w/o changing the entire headlamp, and 2) they're pretty white instead of that dull orangish color the stock lamps are.

But i've noticed that there is INSUFFICIENT lighting from the headlamps. Heck my parents' toyotas (96 camry, 98 sienna) headlights provide much better and wider illumination on the road than the crappy headlights on the 3000GT. Seriously, driving at night sorta sux on the highways b/c even the high beams don't provide sufficient light. Its adequate, but not near up to par.

I've considered doing a true HID conversion, just b/c i'd feel much safer...but those kits are at least 400 bucks.

How do the 94+ 3000GT/Stealths headlights illuminate the road at night? Does it seem just adequate? could it be a lot better when compared to other vehicles of different makes?

any thoughts?

Mine work well, especially after I upgraded to Sylvanya silverstars for fogs, highs, and lows. Much whiter more full spectrum light and it's about 20% brighter.

Heres a pic with both in, stock on right Silverstar on left.

the e-bay auction says its 4"x6". here are some sites i found searching google:

http://store.racinglab.com/redicutsebeh.html
http://www.prolightstar.com/lighting...hc01dc4x6.html
http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.c...&CategoryID=26
http://www.autotoys.com/x/catalog/EU...ION_p_548.html
http://www.slickcar.com/productdetai...ProductID=1029

this site has three 4x6 systems: regular, diamond back, and projector. maybe projector is what i'm looking for...pricy though. http://www.2kracing.com/index.php/cPath/40

good luck

Re: Stripped headlight screws

I just bought mine off of ebay, and they are from eurodezigns.com. This weekend I plan on sanding down the lexan headlights on my 95, and then replacing all the bulbs. I got the complete set for the headlights, highbeams, and the fog lights. I'll be sure to take before and after pics for you guys to check out.
