In progress Custom 40 Ford (x2) & 53 Chevy

I wanted to do some more involved projects on rods/customs as a change from Tuners so I had a look at the Custom/Street Rodder websites for some inspiration and came up with these 3.
Revell Standard 40 Ford Convert

This is a mix of the Revell 40 Standard coupe & the Monogram Pro modeler 40 Convertible. I took off the convertible windscreen and body sides just above the trim and added them to the standard coupe body. The windscreen has been chopped and wheels are Aoshima Lowenharts. Colour will probably be Candy Orange. Engine will be modern - probably the one from the Boyds Smoothster and I'll try to produce a sculpted interior.
40 Ford Hardtop

I picked up a resin Matranga Merc a long while ago and with a bit of massaging I've fitted it to the Pro Modeler 40 Convertible. Fender skirts are from Replica's & Minatures and I plan on using either Saturn hubcaps from MGC or resin Dodge Lancer items and whitewalls. Engine will be a flathead. Colour still to be decided-possibly candy red.
53 Chevy

This is the old Monogram 1/24th kit - so far the roof has been chopped, side & rear window shapes reworked together with the side trim. Colour will probably be a dark yellow with white roof. I may use a Galaxie six for the engine. Wheels are Aoshima Amistads.
As you'll appreciate they'll be pretty involved (lowering the suspensions will be a headache !) so bear with me as progress will probably be slow .
Thanks for looking
Andy

Andy, I'm glad to see your talent put to some hot rod. These shall prove to be excellent builds and maybe start some more hot rod culture around these parts. Great work thus far. I love the '40! Might I make a suggestion for the Chevy? What about a slight section to remove some of the rear bulk?

ah, what lines ,what curves! I`m in love. Especially with the matranga Merc. One issue though, The matranga merc was ( as the name implies) on a Merc, and that grille looks more like a 39 or 40 Standard grille.( Like the one in the Revell `40 Standard coupe). Your grille is a 40 DeLuxe. But hey, it`s artistic freedom here! And the Chevy, like the lines. Just don`t modify it to look like a another "Moonglow"-clone!

The body is a '40 Convertable fitted with the Matranga Merc top. Andy posted that in the first post.

For a second I thought you were building 93 cars.

That Imola Orange is hot!

Those are some amazing customs! Just beautiful work on your part. Gorgeous. Are you going to keep them as draggers or are you gonna lift them ever so slightly? And where did you get that Imola Orange?
