will grills affect injen intake? ram air?

i recently installed clear front bumper lights and found that the black inserts come off very easily in the bumper. i was thinking of removing the bottom two and putting in grill inserts but i noticed that my filter for my cai is right behind where the two holes would be. if i put in the grills, would i have to worry about water getting into the intake cause of the direct airflow on it? also, if i boxed in the intake filter to the two front holes in the bumper making it ram air, would it even be worth the time or wouldn't i even notice a difference (that is if water isn't a problem)

my advice is to leave the two black inserts on. you dont want to take a chance on your filter suckin in moisture. how does that saying going..better be safe than sorry?

However I just thought of something. If you want the black inserts out and install the grill inserts, couldnt you fabricate something to go in the back of the grill inserts.

Like for example, cut out a piece of carboard (but you'll use something better),and place it in the opening to cover tthe opening than install the inserts. I'm not sure if im explaining it very well but I hope u get the picture. Let me know!

yeah, i see what you're saying. i still haven't decided if i want to get the main grill or not cause i like how the foglights look on the front. if i get the front main grill i'll decide if i want the 4 smaller one too.

i can't tell by the picture, but can you still see the foglights through the grill and do they still emit enough light when used?

Oh ok..I see what you're saying now. Your foglights are located inside of your opening. I have an 03 and mine are installed on the sides of the grille.

Since that is the case, I wouldnt bother installing a grille in the front. I like the foglights where they're at because it brings the front out. On the 03, mitsubishi should of inserted something in the middle when they built the car and I'm sure some people would agree with me.

I would just let it me but you could go to like a lowes or home depot, buy a gutter mesh (testing wise) for like 2 bucks and carefully place it on so it wont scratch. If you do decide to go with it, i think you'll wont be able to see the foglights but just a little and they're lighting will be reduce a tad but not to much since there are holes in the mess grille.
