Angry braces+civic=fugly

sup ppl...this is my 1st thread so if i mess up oh well...i have a 93 civic dx and the front bumper looks like a guy with braces...its really ugly and I want to put a grill on it...however the bumper that I have is not like other civic bumpers that you can remove the part from the middle and replace it with a grill... its all one piece and the only way I can put a grill is if I cut out the middle part, and then put the grill... has anybody done this before or at least knows what im talking about...I cant afford a body kit cuz of college so im broke...so far the only thing I can do is find another bumper in a junk yard and replace it... any body know the best way around this?
