How do you turn off that annoying Security bell?

Re: 2000 Silverado

When I have the driver side door open, and engine off, the "Security" message displays in the dash, and that annoying "ding-ding-ding" chime starts going.

Is there any way to turn off that warning chime at will? . . . sometimes it would be nice to sit with the door open without hearing those bells.

Thanks.

You can pull the key out a little and it will stop. As far as removing it for good, I think the dealer has to do that w/the computer.
