Thump noise (Engine Mount?)

Hey all,

When Im at a light (just regular driving), and I slowly add some gas and take off the clutch to start moving, there is a little thump sound that comes from the engine compartment. It's actually kinda loud, and it happens even after I start moving. Higher gears dont seem to make it do it at all, just from a stop or driving down side-streets. It also does it, however, when I turn. It sounds like the engine or tranny is going to fall out of the car. I checked the mounts on the car (95 talon esi), but they all seem good.

Does anyone know what the problem might be and how can I fix it? Thanks a million

Dave

It sounds like there is some slop somewhere in your driveline. I would have to hear where it was coming from to be sure, try to pinpoint exactly where this noise is coming from. Is it your transaxle?

Since you say it makes the noise while turning, I would guess that it is your CV joint.

Read this and it might help you pinpoint your problem.

Re: Thump noise (Engine Mount?)

I finally broke down and took the car to my mechanic. He said its the front control arms. Both being replaced this week. Wheels actually comes close to bouncing out of the control arm!!

And the brake problem is warped rotors. Getting them and my leaking tranny taken car of this week also.
