My 92 3.1 6cyl Lumina cant change vent position and cruise control is out. Figured it was vacuum line problem after reading similar threads...HOWEVER...I cant find the lines...How many are there...are there any diagrams available...where are they...any common locations of failure? Would love to have A/C in vents and cruise control back...Any help would be great. Thanx.

Re: 92 Lumina Vacuum lines location????
Can't say where they all are but a good place to start is the vacuum ball under the front left fender, you have to remove the inner fender liner, and look in front of the tire. You can trace the lines from there. good luck

Ok, found vacuum ball, right after the "L" shaped boot that connects to the ball the line was cracked-almost broken off-I had enough slack to cut off the damaged part of the line and reinsert it into the boot, then reconnected it to the ball-but it didn't fix the problem. Guess the line is broken somewhere else too. Also, can I isolate the vacuum lines that might be the problem knowing that as far as I can tell only the vents and the cruise control are affected? Thanks for the info.

Another place to look is by the evap canister under the coolant resevior. My cruise didnt work in my corsica right after I got it. I found a break in the line right by there. Fixed that and my cruise started working. Dunno about the hvac controls though, they've always worked fine.

Re: 92 Lumina Vacuum lines location????
another good place to check is by the battery. you will have to remove the battery to find them. once you get the battery out you can also trace them back to the back of the engine. that is where my problem came from.. hope this helps

Re: 92 Lumina Vacuum lines location????
i assume u havent found them yet if u havent look on top of ur intake manifold, there should be two little hose and a little bit bigger one there thats where they start and from there one goes to map sensor and the other to cruise control and the bigger one to a sensor

Another good place to check is inside the pass. side fender where the a/c lines go over the coolant tank. There's a 5-way plastic fitting, one larger line coming in and four going out. The "prongs" will break off the fitting. Sometimes there's enough left to reattach the line , otherwise head for auto parts and replace the fitting.

Well, I fixed my vacuum line problem on my ’92 3.1 L. I now have A/C out the vents and my cruise control works! Besides the break in the vacuum line I fixed and wrote about above I found another. If you follow the vacuum line out of the vacuum ball to the first intersection of lines there is what is more or less a “T’ intersection. The “T” is hard plastic and looks similar to a short cylinder with a cone on top. (One piece though.) It was cracked and looked like there was even a small piece missing. The dealer had a whole vacuum harness assembly for $25, but I just wrapped the “T” with electrical tape to seal it and the problem was fixed. Hope this helps someone.
