1987 VW Jetta GLI
I have a 1987 Jetta GLI with a bad engine. I was wonderig if anyone knows between what year engine will work in my Jetta? Example: Will a 84-85 Jetta engine work in my 1987 Jetta? Does it matter if the new/used engine was mated with a manual or a automatic transmission? I have a manual.

Re: 1987 VW Jetta GLI
Any of the 1.8 liter 8 valve engines should work as long as you keep your injection, etc.... Auto vs. manual doesn't matter either as the crankshaft is the same.
