Re: Specs anyone

97 Saleens had different models, so here's the list.

-281 SOHC, (S281)
220 hp at 4400 rpms
285 ft-lbs at 3500 rpms

-281 DOHC(Cobra's motor), (S281)
310 hp at 5800 rpms
300 ft-lbs at 4800 rpms

There was also a S351 which used a V6 car and was converted with a 351CI pushrod EFI motor. Not sure of the power rating for that one.

Do you know if there is any way to tell which one is which without looking at the engine itself?

It's not a DOHC car, don't worry. Very few cobras were converted, and if you do run into one chances are it is going to be WELL documented and advertised as a saleen cobra, and the price will be much higher.
