thinking about lowering my car
i bought a 97 accord coupe and want to do some stuff to it to make it look a little customized. i already have a nice system in it. and i don't really want to spend a lot of money and don't want some gay ol' body kit on it. so i was thinking about lowering it and getting some cool rims. i really like the stock accord rims like these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT
this is really my first step into the tuner world and have no clue about lowering or anything like that. i've heard about coilovers and ish like that but don't know anything substantial. what brands are good? would i need to get new struts also? do i need to get it realigned afterwards? what is a camber kit? can i install them or do i need to go somewhere (my experience is pretty lengthy. i basically tore down my old car to know how everything works). just some basic questions. any suggestions on this or anything to help my ride look more custom would help. |

Re: thinking about lowering my car
H&R springs are good. I would suggest getting new struts if you're going any lower than 1.5", any lower and the ride gets worse and the chances of blowing the stock ones gets better. Always do an alignment when you change suspension. Most people recommend a camber kit with a 2" or more drop. I would install one so you have more adjustability when getting your alignment to set it back to stock specs. You should be able to install everything yourself if you're handy... & a good manual doesn't hurt.

Re: thinking about lowering my car
how about these h&r springs?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT these seem to be much cheaper than what i have seen them for on a place like tirerack.com. i guess of course i would then need the shocks. what about a camber kit? would i need different wheels/tires? |
