Bent Frame

Okay. I have a 1988 Civic DX. I got rearended earlier this summer and it did minor damage to the bumper and trunk. Then, later on, my brother got in an accident with a motorcycle. The wreck left my bumper detached, my right tailight missing and a bent frame near the back. I live in a smaller town, and the auto body shop here claims that it cant be fixed. I was wondering if there was anything that anyone knew of that could be done to fix this car. I wouldnt be so upset except that it is my first car and it was in excellent condition and very low mileage. Help me please!!!

Re: Bent Frame

bigger shops have frame pullers/straighteners....but its probably gonna cost alot more than the car is worth

might be time to move on...

Re: Bent Frame

Its can be fixed more than likely, but it may cost more than its worth.

Re: Bent Frame

My first CRX got rear ended with almost no damage, except the frame was bent. They wouldn't let me keep it, i had to turn it in cause the frame adjustment would have cost way more than the car.

the car is certainly driveable. my brother got hit in another town about 200 miles away and drove it all the way home. you can sort of tell the frame is bent because it got hit on the right side, but on the left side right around the gas cap cover, there is a slight bubbling/indentation. Ill be getting more than the car is worth in insurance payments from my rearending and the accident. so money to fix it isnt really an issue.

Re: Bent Frame

If you are driving with a bent frame its going to mess up one of your tires because its going to be spinning at a wierd angle, so maybe if you have expensive tires on your car you should put some cheapo ones on so the tread doesn't get all warped or anything.

Re: Bent Frame

My car had been totalled by rear end collisons....TWICE. both times the frame had to be pulled. I was able to get fixed both times for the money I got from the insurance company.
