Cool Air Conditioner (AC) belt replacement

Searched forum for info on replacing AC belt in a Civic. Found some requests, but no answers, so I was forced to figure it out for myself. It is not easy, but not as daunting as I originally thought.

I have a 94 Civic LX, but this probably holds for different years and models.

1. Move power steering assembly out of your way.
2. Remove AC compressor, and let it hang to bottom of the car (probably a good idea to place a block under it to relieve stress on AC hoses).
3. There is a bracket that the compressor was bolted to. Remove the 4 bolts holding this to the engine block (leave the tensioner pulley in place on the bracket).
4. Pull the bracket away from the engine block and slide the belt over it. It will not come all the way off, as part of it goes into a boot by the wheel-well, but this does not matter.
5. Re-assemble.

You will need to completely loosen the power steering assembly and the AC compressor tensioner pulley before you can put the belts back on. The compressor tensioner pulley will only move if you loosen the bolt going thru the pulley before turning the adjuster bolt.
