sharing my experience at Tire Rack...
Although I just found out about this forum, I wanted to express for everyone else interested in doing business with Tire Rack how perfectly pleased I was with their service.
About 1 month ago I decided to buy some SSR Competition rims (17 x 8) with Bridgestone S03 tires (215/40's). I didn't have enough room on my credit card at the time, so I decided to use my check card instead. After calling them up and going through a very easy question and answer session to get the tire/wheel package, I gave them the card number and figured that was that. Little did I know however, that my bank has a $700 daily limit on check card purchases, which I figured would kill my plans right off. I wanted these rims by New Year's eve, and was already getting Priority overnight shipment to do so. So basically time was a tickin and the purchase hadn't gone through. Instead of finding this out the next day however, or through some cryptic email from some automated service, I got an immediate call from the Tire Rack informing me of the problem. They then got me on a three way call with my bank, and after moving some money around and getting special permission everything was OK'd for the purchase. Damn, that was easy, normally I'd be on the phone for hours getting the run-around with any other business! Then the shipment arrived, and I'd chosen to get the wheels mounted and balanced by them prior to shipment. This way all I had to do was drive them home, spin a couple of lug nuts and be on my way. When the tires arrived I noticed they'd also been inflated to 34.5 psi in every tire (evidently Tire Rack even has an inflation spec and they hit it in all four tires). I got home and busted them out of the packaging, to also find a brand new set of lug nuts along with an adapter for the car's stock lug wrench. Evidently the SSR rims and my stock lug nuts are not compatible, so not only did Tire Rack send along a nice new set (free of charge), but since they were 11/16's instead of 3/4, they also sent along an adpater just in case I didn't have a lug star (also free of charge). How nice. In fact, it was the best autmotive buying experience I've ever had. No run-arounds, hassle free help over the phone, a great website to help me get my purchase nailed down without complication, and on top of all that the price was cheaper than any local place I could find. While you'd figure they cut service and some other buyer oriented things out to give you that cheaper price, my epxerience shows it to be just the opposite. So if you're looking to buy some tires, rims or a complete package, look no further than Tire Rack.
